what are some examples of mathematics regularly used by architects?
i want to know how architects use math. for what calculations, which formulas, how often?
I ask because i'm not mathematically inclined but am considering applying to architecture school.
Answer: Don't know why Mister Nice Guy got a thumbs down. It is the truth. Architects spend most of their time with "space relations". They design structures that accomodate the physical needs of people and how people interact with that space. That means they spend a lot of time adding and substracting dimensions, checking building codes, checking ADA compliance, selecting and specifiying building products. Nothing wrong with that. Other areas of building design: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, structural which would have more math are handled by engineers. An architect is what an engineer would be if he were artistic.
