How were the guys in "The Fountainhead" were influenced to become architects?

How were the guys in the book, "the fountainhead" influenced to become architects. As much detail as possible would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Answer:
Keating was influenced by his mother, although he had initially wanted to become a painter. She convinced him that architecture was a more socially acceptable profession.

Roark doesn't allow anyone to influence him in any way. By the time we meet him, architecture is already his passion, and we don't really get backstory that explains what made him choose that profession.
